
After its establishment in 1991, the Infocentre was first managed by the Culture Club of Písek. Based on the decision of the Municipal Council Board in 1997, the Infocentre became part of Písek Municipal Office; in terms of its organizational chart, the Infocentre is part of the Department of Tourism and International Relations. In 2000, the Infocentre moved from its original location at Fügnerovo Square over to the pedestrian zone in Heydukova Street.
The Infocentre is a member of the Association of Tourist Information Centres, the ATIC. It also fulfils the requirements of official tourist information centre set by the CzechTourism Agency. In 2003 the C.O.T. publishing house granted to the Infocentre of Písek the award for the "Best infocentre established by a municipality".

To sell promotional materials published by the Town Office of Písek, and to make available to the public the products of other suppliers - postcards, maps, guides, tourist publications, tourist stamps, souvenirs. The Infocenter has also participated in the creation of promotional materials published by the Department of Culture and Tourism.

Further on, the Infocenter has been supporting several tourism projects. In 1997, the project of "Písek Region - the Gate of Southern Bohemia" has been launched with the participation of entrepreneurs in the field of the tourist industry. There is a narrow cooperation the the regional tourism office. Fruitful partnership has been maintained both within the framework of regular meetings of the Písek Regional Infocenters, and within the framework of the "Otava Navigation" project organized by four towns on the River Otava. Effective cooperation is maintained within "The Fairytale Southern Bohemia" project.
The town of Písek has been represented by the Department of Tourism and Foreign Relations at various Tourism Fairs. The Department also promotes Pisek by way of advertising in professional and thematic periodicals.
