Malčice

When he got to Malčín he was joined by an itinerant concertina player whom he met at the inn, where he was refreshing himself with brandy because it was a long way to Radomyšl.

How to reach Malčice from Písek

By car:

• direction Praha - I/20, turn right at the Nová Hospoda crossroad along the I/4 (15 km)

By bus:

• from the main bus station or Pražská Street for Předotice/Malčice, several connections a day, fewer at the weekends

By bike:

• Sedláčkova Path 1225 towards the Plynová lávka, follow the left bank on the 1151, past Čížová go straight at the crossroads with the 1159 route, your route is unmarked and takes you to the Skalický Pond, and for the last short stretch of the journey will go along the I/4 road

On foot:

• no tourist marking goes through the village, one can use the cycling route described above (15 km)
  

Things to do

Where there is nothing, even Death is powerless. This statement might define Malčice today. Schweik may have drunk his schnapps here but now there is no pub. In Malčice, known as Malčín in the book, only the house where the pub used to be can be found. The village itself is quite pretty, but we would recommend you to spend more time in the South Bohemia Village of the Year 2010, Čížová.
