Putim village belongs among the oldest settlements in the area - it existed already in the tenth century. The village is situated on the right bank of Blanice River, before its confluence with the river Otava, approx. 6 km from Písek. Putim is famous thanks to Jaroslav Hašek novel about good Soldier Švejk and there are lots of historical monuments there - the village was pronounced the village preserved monument zone in 1995. The surroundings are suitable both for trekking and cycling - there is a marked trek path leading directly through the village to Řežabinec Nature Preserve or cycle route Ražice - Putim - Kestřany - Žižka monument.
