Kovářov village is situated approx. 10 km north westwards from Milevsko, in the area of Middle Povltaví and on the right river bank of Vltava - not far from Orlík Lake. In the village itself lots of historical monuments can be found. Kovářov is known mainly thanks to the folk festival and obtained price „village of the year" in 2004.
The surroundings are covered by Středočeská pahorkatina (Middle Bohemian Downs) - picturesque country side with number of forests, rocks and ponds. There is an educational route Kovářovsko (length of 50 km), leading through the area the route is suitable both for cycling and trekking.
