Houses started to get numbered in Písek after 1770. Till then the houses were named after their owners, or after their house signs. It used to be a matter of honour to decorate the façade of the house by paintings, frescos, sculptures or some other objects which would remind us of the name of the owner, or his business, or some event, or they were purely decorative. Many of these signs have been preserved in Písek. The following list mentions just a few of them.
House ´At the Small White Ram´
This beautiful house sign can be found on the Baroque façade of the house standing in Drlíčov near the Dean’s Church. The house has recently been beautifully renovated.
