
The power plant is located in the original Podskalský Mill and Water Works which acquired the equipment for electricity production in 1888. In 1901 the water-wheel was replaced by two Francis turbines. The power plant worked till 1986 and after its reconstruction in 1994 it was once again put into operation. Since 1997 a museum exhibition was opened to the public, and is open during the summer season (April through October) every day except Monday 9 - 12 a. m., 1 - 4 p. m., in July and August the Museum will be opened till 6 p. m. Groups can be booked out the standard opening hours. There are also souvenirs on sale.
Except the exhibition located in the former royal castle of Písek, the museum has opened the House of poet Adolf Heyduk after renovation again. Visitors can enjoy his flat in the style of early 20th century. The house located in Tyršova Street is opened from Tuesday to Saturday 9 - 12 a. m. and 1 - 5 p. m., on Sundays for groups on request. Entrance fee is 30 CZK, reduced 10 CZK.
